I know it might seem premature to celebrate what I’ve done. Because nothing I’ve done is conventionally a big deal. But like I said in the subtitle, I’m going in the right direction, and just that fact, that’s something I want to celebrate for myself.
So, here’s a list of some small steps I’ve made in the past 23 days since I left my job (in no particular order).
posted almost daily updates on Instagram of what I’ve worked on
experimented with making different types of content
created an Instagram for Impulse Bye
made templates for my Instagram reel covers and carousel posts
made progress on Impulse Bye development
built out more settings
wrote a handful of custom functions for bespoke functionality
figured out a big question I had around allowing multiple custom prompts
joined a peer mentorship community and attended two sessions
made another zine that I’m really proud of
had a couple zine ideas that I’m really excited about
applied for a market (did not get accepted, but I went and it was a good time)
started an application for an art program (it’s not due til later this week, so it’s still in progress)
confidently talked about my decision and Impulse Bye with people
All of this work is about establishing myself in this new identity and work flow and in my new goals. There aren’t really any major qualitative milestones, but it’s not quite yet time to focus on that. I'm still throwing spaghetti at the wall to see what sticks.
